HLTAID012 – Provide First Aid in an education and care setting

 

*This course is for specific industries that require educational based training such as childcare workers, school teachers and other related industries. This course covers all Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) requirements*

You will learn:

  • Signs and symptoms to recognise when someone is unconscious and not breathing
  • CPR (Cardiopulmonary resuscitation) on an infant, child and adult
  • How to use a defibrillator
  • How to complete an incident report
  • First Aid treatment for anaphylaxis, asthma, choking, unconscious breathing, bleeding and shock, snake bites, spider bites, sprains and fractures, seizures and epilepsy (including febrile convulsions), poisoning and toxic substances.

Location

First 2 First Aid is a mobile training business which operates between Sunshine Coast and North Brisbane. We also deliver courses West of Caboolture near Kilcoy. Training is based at Bellmere.

Entry Requirements

Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks.

Assessment Requirements

Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks.

– Performance tasks and practical scenarios:
– Perform CPR on an adult (incl. the use of an AED and placing a casualty into the recovery position)
– Complete a first aid incident report form based on the simulated first aid scenario
– Perform CPR on a child
– Perform CPR on an infant
– Manage a child casualty with anaphylaxis
– Manage a child casualty with asthma
– Manage a choking child and infant casualty
– Manage a child casualty with non-life-threatening bleeding and shock, requiring minor wound cleaning
– Manage a child casualty with a nosebleed
– Manage a child casualty with a fracture and dislocation
– Manage a child casualty with a sprain and strain
– Manage a child casualty with envenomation (snake/ funnel-web spider bite)

Theory assessment: A written assessment consisting of multiple-choice questions.

Delivery Modes

+ FACE TO FACE TRAINING

This delivery method involves all elements of the training and assessment being delivered in the face to face setting. This is the longest duration of training and offers students the maximum opportunity to interact with the trainer delivering the information.

+ ONLINE TRAINING WITH FACE TO FACE ASSESSMENT

This delivery method is best suited to returning students that are confident in learning online. All the knowledge content of the training is delivered through our online learning system (Training Desk) and the theory component of the assessment is completed online, prior to a face to face practical assessment. It is essential that students have access to a reliable computer and internet access. This type of training is great for busy lifestyles; pause your online theory and resume in your own time.

+ BLENDED TRAINING

Students complete some online learning prior to the face to face training and assessment. All topics are covered in the face to face session along with all assessment elements. This delivery method is the most popular as it suits all learner types and strikes a balance between course duration and classroom-based learning.

+ REFRESHER TRAINING

To qualify for this delivery method, students need to hold a current certificate in the course being delivered. This delivery method involves the same face to face component as blended delivery however do not require the students to complete pre-course work due to the existing skills and knowledge.

Course Duration

Course durations can vary for multiple reasons, so the durations below are the minimum possible amount.

  • Online Training with Face to Face Assessment – Face to Face contact time of at least 1 Hour
  • Face to Face – Face to Face contact time of at least 9 Hours
  • Blended delivery – Face to Face contact time of at least 7 Hours
  • Refresher training – Face to Face contact time of at least 7 Hours

Cash payments are also accepted.
Payment Terms – A $30 booking fee is required upfront to secure your position.  Group booking payment terms are based on an agreement between the client and First 2 You First Aid.

What will you achieve?

Successful participants will receive a certificate on completion that covers four units.

  • HLTAID012: Provide an emergency response in an education and care setting
  • HLTAID011: Provide first aid
  • HLTAID010: Provide basic emergency life support
  • HLTAID009: Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  • Knowledge and confidence to perform CPR, basic emergency life support and first aid

CPR is current for 12 months and First Aid is current for 3 years.
